Notary Services
Viktoria Potapova and Dee Ibraheim will provide free notary services to Teachers College students, faculty, and staff (please note: that does not include form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification).
If you need something notarized:
- First, call to make an appointment. You can reach Viktoria Potapova at x6637 or email potapova@tc.edu; Dee Ibraheim at x3144 or email di2232@tc.columbia.edu
- Have your photo ID with you (i.e., a current, valid passport, a current valid driver or non-driver license, or a US military ID card).
- Do not sign anything before you see the notary.
- If a witness is required, the person requesting notary service is responsible for providing a witness. The witness will also need an acceptable photo ID, as listed above. The Office of the General Counsel does not provide witnesses.
Please note: we do not provide legal advice.
“Use of the office of notary in other than the specific, step-by-step procedure required is viewed as a serious offense by the Secretary of State. The practice of taking acknowledgments and affidavits over the telephone, or otherwise, without the actual, personal appearance of the individual making the acknowledgment or affidavit before the officiating notary, is illegal.”
