Background

Are you an International and Comparative Education Program student with an international summer internship and/or research project with a non-governmental organization or international agency devoted to the education of orphans, street children, child laborers, indigenous or other marginalized youth

Eligibility

The Carmela and Marie F. Volpe Fellowship for International Service in Education supports TC students interning or collaborating with such an NGO/agency. The fellowship is offered as a single-payment award. Eligible students must be continuing with their studies into Fall 2024.

Award

Recipients will receive a stipend (the amount will vary). 

Materials to submit with nomination

  • Up-to-date resume      
  • Personal statement (1-2 single-spaced pages) including information on the 6-12 week internship or collaboration, your projected role or contribution, your preparation for the position, and how the internship fits in with your broader academic and/or professional goals. Be clear how your proposed activities will directly contribute to the education of orphans, street children, child laborers, or other marginalized youth.      
  • Name and contact information of a TC faculty member who could serve as a reference
  • Invitation letter (this can be an e-mail) from the NGO/agency
  • Brief description of the NGO/agency

Criteria for selection

Exceptional and demonstrated commitment to the education of orphans, street children, child laborers, indigenous or other marginalized youth.
