Graduate Scholars to Convene in Paris for Inter-University Conference on Global Education Governance
On March 17, 2026, graduate students from Teachers College, Columbia University will join peers from Sciences Po and Panthéon-Sorbonne Université Paris 1 for an inter-university research conference on Global Governance and Comparative Policy Studies in Education. Hosted at the historic Centre Panthéon in Paris, the conference creates a space for emerging scholars to present research-in-progress and completed studies while engaging in sustained cross-national dialogue.
The gathering reflects a shared institutional commitment to comparative education and policy scholarship. Across three panel sessions, students will deliver 15-minute presentations followed by collective discussion designed to foster substantive feedback and intellectual exchange. A mid-program poster session will provide additional opportunities for conversation and interdisciplinary engagement.
For Teachers College students, the conference offers more than a presentation opportunity; it creates a space where ideas are blended, challenged, and refined in an international academic setting. Bringing together scholars from New York and Paris fosters dialogue across different theoretical traditions and policy contexts, encouraging students to reconsider assumptions and strengthen their conceptual frameworks. With dedicated discussion built into each panel, presentations become collaborative conversations, allowing graduate researchers to sharpen their work while contributing to a broader transnational dialogue on global education governance.
Master’s and doctoral students interested in presenting may submit a 500-word abstract through the Abstract Submission Form (deadline: March 2, 2026). Those wishing to attend are encouraged to register in advance using the Attendee Registration Form.
The initiative is led by Dr. Gita Steiner-Khamsi, William Heard Kilpatrick Professor of Comparative Education, whose scholarship on global policy transfer and governance informs both the academic program and the conference framework.
Through this initiative, Teachers College continues to support its graduate students in engaging globally, contributing to international research conversations, and building the professional networks that will shape the next generation of education policy scholars.
