Dr. Hope Leichter was a panelist in the event Reset the Future I: Educating Globally Competent Children last September. Together with Dr. Howard Gardner from Harvard University and Dr. Mingyuan Gu from Beijing Normal University, Dr. Leichter engaged in an interesting conversation about global competence. This event focused on the importance of educating children to become global citizens and contribute to solving global problems. Noting that developing global competence has become increasingly relevant as children’s intercultural encounters grow, the panel discussed a range of topics, including the significance of global competence, how to teach global citizenship, and STEAM education as an element of global competence. This was the first webinar in the Reset the Future symposia series hosted by Columbia University’s Beijing Global Center. Over 8000 participants attended the panel virtually.

Dr. Leichter also collaborated with the Global Center in Beijing in 2019, as part of a commemorative event of the 100th year of John Dewey’s visit to China. Follow this link to watch Dr. Leichter’s reflections about her work on families as educators.
