The International and Comparative Education program is excited to welcome Katja Brøgger as a Visiting Scholar! She will be hosted by Prof. Gita Steiner-Khamsi for the Fall 2024 semester.

Katja Brøgger is an Associate Professor (tenure track) at Aarhus University, Denmark, and the research program director of Policy Futures. She is also the founder and convenor of the Policy Futures International Webinar Series. Her work focuses on higher education, research policy, and governance.

Brøgger chairs the EU COST Action CA22121 (OPEN) and serves as Principal Investigator (PI) for two international comparative projects examining how new nationalisms and geopolitical shifts are affecting the openness of European higher education, including academic freedom.

She is the lead editor of the World Yearbook of Education 2026 and has authored multiple books, articles, and chapters on topics like the geopolitics and governance of higher education, academic freedom, EU policy, and the impact of new nationalisms on education systems.
