We are excited that you are considering participating in a Group Relations Conference at Teachers College, co-sponsored by the Social-Organizational Psychology program and The Tavistock Institute of Human Relations. Thank you for your interest, and welcome to our community.
The Group Relations Conference (GRC) provides an experiential learning opportunity for participants to examine their own and others’ behaviors in group and organizational settings through the creation of a new social system in which group dynamics can emerge and be studied.
In general, we hold group relations conferences three times a year, in the spring, summer, and fall. Each group relations conference typically occurs over three days (Friday through Sunday) from approximately 9am to 9pm each day.
In-person conferences take place at the Teachers College campus located at 525 W. 120th Street, New York, NY, 10027.
Our group relations conferences are primarily intended for graduate students at Teachers College and Columbia University affiliates enrolled in the course Group Dynamics: A Systems Perspective. However, we also welcome conference members from the general public and typically have between five and fifteen public members at each conference. The overall membership size ranges from 45 to 70 participants.
A diverse conference membership deepens everyone’s learning and serves to enrich the conference experience for all.
The regular conference fee is $450, which includes all conference events and light refreshments throughout the weekend. Discounted rates are available for current students ($350), employees in not-for-profit organizations ($400), and organizations sending three or more members.
