While the Office of General Counsel at TC cannot provide personal legal advice to students, they are happy to provide notary services at this link.

NYC 311 Tenant Helpline: Call 311 and ask for the Tenant Helpline for general information and referrals to city tenant resources.

Legal Services NYC: Call 917-661-4500. This is a major provider of free civil legal services, including assistance with housing disputes and eviction defense.

The Legal Aid Society: Call 212-577-3300 (Civil Practice). They provide free legal representation for low-income New Yorkers in a variety of housing matters.

New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG): Call 212-613-5000. They offer free legal assistance to low-income New Yorkers, including for tenant rights and preserving housing.

If you don't qualify for free representation, these services can help you understand your rights or connect you with a private attorney.

The City Bar Justice Center's Legal Hotline: Call 212-626-7383. Provides free legal information, advice, and referrals on housing issues for low-income New Yorkers.

NYC Bar Legal Referral Service (LRS): Call 212-626-7373. If you need to hire an attorney, the LRS can connect you with one for a low-cost initial consultation.
