The North Eastern Philosophy of Education Society (NEPES) conference will return to Teachers College this fall. The one-day event will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The conference theme this year is “Imagination, Attention, and Aesthetic Education,” and we are excited to have an abundant program, featuring presentations from professors and students from more than two dozen institutions.

We are thrilled to share that our keynote speaker will be Dr. Elaine Scarry, Walter M. Cabot Professor of Aesthetics and General Theory of Value at Harvard University. A visionary thinker, Scarry’s scholarship bridges literature, philosophy, and aesthetics. Scarry is the author of several groundbreaking books, including The Body in Pain: The Making and Unmaking of the World (Oxford University Press) and On Beauty and Being Just (Princeton University Press).

If you would like to attend the conference, you can register on the NEPES website. You can also find more information about the conference there.
