New International Student Check-In
Check-in is mandatory for all initial and transfer F-1 and J-1 students upon arrival in the United States. Please complete the check-in process as soon as possible but no later than one week from your arrival.
In order to complete the virtual Check-In process, you will need the following:
- Complete Student Check-In Form: Please complete the form via TC-Compass under New Student Services after arriving in the U.S.
- Valid Passport(s): For you and your family, if applicable.
- F-1 or J-1 Visa: Exception: Canadian citizens are not required to have entry visas.
- Form I-20 or DS-2019: Be sure to sign your I-20/DS-2019 form at the bottom of the page.
- I-94 Arrival/Departure Record: In order to obtain a copy of your I-94, you must:
- Log on to the Department of Homeland Security website
- Click on "Get Most Recent I-94"
- Read through the "Security Notification" and click "Consent & Continue"
- Enter your information to retrieve your most recent I-94 record
Tips on retrieving your most recent I-94 record
- Enter your name as it appears in your passport
- Be sure to check and enter your birthday month and birthday date correctly
- Make sure that the information you entered matches the information in your passport
- If you have multiple names, you might consider entering different combinations as the port of entry officer may have entered only one or all of the names appearing on your passport
- If you continue to encounter issues retrieving your I-94 record or there are errors on your record, please speak to one of the international advisors
