Canvas

Canvas

What is Canvas?

Canvas is Teacher College’s supported learning management system (LMS). It is a web-based software that allows educators to manage digital learning, create and present online learning resources, and assess student learning as well as allowing students to engage with their peers, demonstrate their learning, and receive feedback.

Availability

Canvas is available to all TC faculty, current students, and staff. A blank Canvas course is automatically created for most of TC’s credit courses and is available to students once the course is published by the instructor. TC faculty, staff, and enrolled students can request that a “sandbox” Canvas course be created for TC related learning and activities by contacting the Digital Futures Institute

Accessibility

Accessibility testing for this product was completed on August 31, 2021. Any subsequent updates to the product or associated input devices after this date are not reflected on the current assessment.

Canvas meets most of Teacher College’s accessibility criteria. Any content created in Canvas using the Rich Text Editor (e.g., pages, assignments, discussion boards) should be checked with the Canvas Accessibility Checker for common accessibility errors. Resources added to Canvas, such as PDFs and videos, will need to be checked separately for accessibility.
