DFI Media Studios are located in Macy 259. These services are currently available to Teachers College community members only. If you are from outside of Teachers College and want to inquire about working with DFI Media, please email dfi@tc.columbia.edu to be in touch. DFI Media Studios include:
- Studio B, which has podcasting and asynchronous video stations and can be reserved for use with DFI staff support.
- Available for students, faculty and staff.

Studio B
Studio B Podcasting Station
Studio B includes an audio recording station. Teachers College community members can sign up for Macy Studio hours for recording podcasts and other audio content with the help of DFI staff.
Studio B Recording Station
Studio B includes a media creation station with a green screen, microphone and lights for use by faculty and students for use creating asynchronous course content, media projects, and more.
Sign Up for Studio B Hours
Teachers College community members can sign up for Studio B hours using the button/link below. Hours are staffed and this is a shared resource: please honor your sign-up requests and let us know as far in advance as possible if you need to cancel or change times. For larger requests and collaborations, send us a request to discuss.
Macy Studio B is located in Macy 259
Studio B hours include:
- A podcast station with up to six microphones for audio and up to 3 camera angles for video. (If using video, limited to 4 microphones).
- A webcam recording station with a high quality camera, lights, backdrops and a studio microphone
- Assistance from a DFI representative
Note: If you plan to use the green screen at the webcam recording station, please avoid wearing any shades of green.
Policies
- You may not use studio hours for work product for another company or organization. (If you're interested in inquiring about a possible external contract, email dfi@tc.columbia.edu).
- Maximum 3hrs/week per project
- You must download your recorded media within 1 week of the recording date
- Prepare ahead to make best use of studio time
- Barring sickness or emergency, please honor your reservations and arrive on time. If you miss multiple time slots, we may no longer accept your reservations. Please notify Billy Collins bcc2163@tc.columbia.edu at least two days ahead if you can't make it.

Studio A
Teachers College staff and faculty should reach out to inquire about the use of Studio A for full service video production in collaboration with the DFI team. Possibilities include single and multi-camera recordings with a variety of backgrounds, the optional use of a teleprompter, and more.
