VoiceThread is an interactive multimedia online learning tool for enhancing student engagement and online presence. With VoiceThread, instructors and/or students can create, share, and comment on images, Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, videos, audio files, documents, and PDFs, using a microphone, webcam, text, phone, and audio-file upload.
Products that are in the Active/Vendor-Supported category have been approved through the TC application assessment process. While these products are approved, please be aware that TC does not provide licenses or technical support for these products. Therefore, acquiring a license for the use of any product from this category will be the responsibility of the individual user or their respective department. You or your department may purchase the product licenses directly from the product vendor/website. You will also need to contact the vendor directly for technical support.
VoiceThread fully or partially meets the majority of the Teachers College Accessibility Criteria. Captions are not automatically generated, so it is recommended that users upload captions manually or through an integration with a professional third party service. Screen reader support is only available within VoiceThread Universal.
There are many essential elements of VoiceThread that are not navigable via screen reader regardless of mode. Instructors are strongly advised to work with OASID to equitably navigate any of these accessibility concerns. Students that disclose a disability that presents barriers to using VoiceThread should be encouraged to reach out to OASID at oasid@tc.edu.
