Play x Research

The play x research space of DFI redefines the traditional boundaries of research, integrating the creative acts of play to expand the kinds of research questions we ask, the forms of data we generate, the tools we employ for analysis, and the spaces in which we make this work public. Through media-making, arts-based methods, creative writing, and alternative engagements with “data”, we center playful experiences (in its many forms) and support research that widens possibilities for interdisciplinary collaboration, public engagement, and the emergence of new solutions for today’s most pressing social issues. Our goal is to reimagine new and just futures through mobilizing ethical and imaginative scholarship and research.
