Prior to the dates above we recommend you visit our portal and click Short-Term Housing to register for an account (if you do not already have one).
Our spaces are limited but may open up as reservations are cancelled
All units are private with a bathroom, are air conditioned, and are furnished with a desk chair, floor lamp, dresser, wardrobe or closet, and a micro-fridge (combination microwave oven and refrigerator/freezer). Community kitchens are available on a number of floors for Private Twin residents.

Students in degree-granting programs at Teachers College are discounted $10 per night.
Guests wishing to make a reservation for dates including Friday, Saturday, or Sunday are required to make the reservation to include all three nights and will be charged accordingly. You can arrive or depart on a weekend but you will be charged the full weekend per our policy.
Cancellations must be received via our portal, phone, or email in accordance with the below payment schedule to avoid any charges. Once your due date has passed, the full amount charged is non-refundable. No deposit is required to secure your reservation like in past years.

Guests should check-in at the security desk located at 517 West 121st Street (New Residence Hall), located between Amsterdam Avenue and Broadway. The security desk is staffed 24 hours a day. Guests must present photo ID upon check-in and guests must be a minimum of 18 years with valid photo ID to check in.

All keys and guest swipe cards should be returned to the drop-box located at the front desk of New Residence Hall.
Late check-out is based on availability. Guests interested in a late check-out should call 212-678-3235 at least one business day prior to their departure date. Approved check-outs after 10 am but before 3 pm will result in a charge of half-day rate, and after 3 pm will result in a charge of a full-day rate.
If you reside in New Residence Hall, an N or S after your room number designates your building location. For example, 504S is 504 South Tower and 504N is 504 North Tower
What To Pack

Room Amenities Not Provided
Iron/ironing board, hangers, coffee pot, television, alarm clock, trash bins, cookware utensils, telephone, air mattress/cot.
Cable Television Service
All rooms are provided with premium cable TV service. There is no additional charge for this service and to take advantage of this, guests must bring a cable-ready TV.
Each unit is equipped with central air conditioning/heat and a wall-mounted thermostat so that guests may maintain and adjust the temperature to their liking. New York City law requires that heat (if temperature dictates) be provided to tenants through May 31 which means that air-conditioning may not be available until June 1.
Kitchens are located on every floor on floors 2-7 and ever other floor on floors 9-18 for use by TC students and summer conference guests. These facilities are open 24 hours. However, you must remain with your food while it is cooking. Pots and pans are not supplied. Please clean up after yourself when you leave.
Whittier and Bancroft Halls have Fitness Centers that can be used by all guests.
Every unit has a high-speed Ethernet jack and Wi-Fi to provide Internet access. Internet access requires a login, which will be shared with you in advance. Wi-Fi can also be found in the common spaces on the first floor of your building.
A laundry room, open 24 hours, is located in the basement of the North building. Quarters and debit/credit cards are accepted. You can monitor the status of your washer or dryer by installing the CSCPay Mobile app. Choose the 517 West 121st Street location to view the status of your laundry.
Each room is provided with a bedding packet. Beds are not made prior to arrival, and are the responsibility of the guest. The bedding packet includes:
A linen exchange occurs on a weekly basis if your stay extends beyond 7 days. You will receive an e-mail or note on your door notifying you of the day of your linen exchange.
Guests have access to the following shared spaces in New Residence Hall
The Office of Residential Services does not clean occupied rooms. Rooms are cleaned prior to arrival of guests.
You are issued a key for your room which can also be used as your mailbox key in New Residence Hall. If you are a guest in Bancroft Hall the smaller key is your mailbox key. If you were given a guest swipe card as well, this is used to gain entry to the front door of your building. If you were not given a guest swipe card, use your TC ID Card to gain access to your building.
Always swipe your guest card or TC ID card when entering the building. On your departure date both the hard key and the guest swipe card should be dropped off in the Key Return Box at the front desk of New Residence Hall. Lost, damaged, stolen, or unreturned keys or guest swipe cards should be reported to our office as soon as possible and a charge will be assessed.
If you are locked out, inform the Public Safety officer at the New Residence Hall front desk and they will assist you. You will be asked to produce a government issued photo ID in order to gain access to your room.
Luggage storage is available in our Residential mailroom located in Whittier Hall at 1230 Amsterdam Ave. This service is only available during regular mailroom hours. Luggage cannot be stored overnight.
Regular hours for 2023 are Monday - Thursday 9am - 5pm, Friday 9am - 4pm, and Saturday 12pm - 5pm. The mailroom is closed on Sundays and federal holidays.
Small pieces of mail will be delivered to the mailbox in your building. If you receive a package you will be sent an e-mail with the details. Bring the package number and your ID to retrieve your package. The mailroom is located in Whittier Hall at 1230 Amsterdam Ave. Your mailbox number and your room number are the same.

If you notice anything that needs to be repaired or is not in proper working order, please call the Office of Residential Services at 212-678-3235 during business hours. For emergencies after hours please contact the front desk of your building.
The desk located in the first floor lobby of New Residence Hall is staffed by a Public Safety Officer 24 hours a day. They can be contacted by calling 212-870-6100.
Trash & Recycling
All of our buildings provide receptacles for recyclable items. These receptacles are located on each floor in the recycling room.
Trash chutes are available on each floor of New Residence Hall. Glass, boxes, hazardous materials and/or other large objects should be taken to the appropriate depository in the basement.
Unfortunately, we do not provide a wake-up call service to guests.
Children under the age of 18 must be under adult supervision at all times. Guest is legally and financially responsible for the actions of children under their care.
The unlawful manufacture, possession, use or distribution of alcohol, or other controlled substances on or about the campus or any site of a College-sponsored or sanctioned activity is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated. Drug paraphernalia are not permitted in the Residence Halls.
Tampering and/or removal of fire safety equipment, leaving stove/oven unattended, failure to evacuate during fire alarm, and propping doors open are prohibited. Cooking, other than via microwave, is prohibited in small efficiency rooms in New Residence Hall. Never overload circuits or run extension cords under carpets/rugs. Storing combustible items (e.g. gas, oily rags, paints, etc.) in your unit is strictly prohibited. You must always evacuate the building via the stairs when fire bell sounds, utilizing the exit closest to you. Do not use the elevator.
Guests are responsible to ensure that their visitors are registered at the front desk each time they enter the building. All visitors must have a photo ID. Guests can request a guest pass for their visitor at the Office of Residential Services during standard business hours.
Courtesy Hours are in effect at all times. Guest must comply with any reasonable request to reduce the noise level. Quiet Hours are designated times that guests should maintain a reasonable noise level. Weekdays (Sunday night – Thursday night), the designated times are 11:00 pm – 7:00 am. Weekends (Friday night and Saturday night), the designated times are 12:00 am – 8:00 am.
All pets are prohibited in each of our buildings with the exception of documented service and comfort animals. Any animals need approval from the Office of Access before they can be brought into TC Summer Conference Housing rooms.
Waterbeds, open-coiled appliances, candles, incense, flammable fluids, halogen lamps, non-artificial trees, gasoline-powered or electric-powered bikes (mopeds) and motorcycles are prohibited.
Smoking is prohibited in all Teachers College buildings, associated courtyards and within 50 feet of any Teachers College buildings.
Any weapon or object that may be considered a weapon by the College in its sole and absolute discretion, or any object that may cause bodily harm to the bearer or another individual is strictly prohibited. In unclear cases of definition, the context in which a particular object is used shall determine whether it is a weapon, such determination to be made by the College in its sole and absolute discretion. Objects that are included in this category, but not limited to, are firearms, stun guns, pellet guns, explosives, dangerous chemicals, ammunition, bows & arrows, knives, slingshots, etc. Possession of fireworks (firecrackers, bottle rockets, etc.) of any variety is prohibited.
