Welcome, and thank you for your interest in Applied Music lessons!
Applied Music lessons are available on any instrument and at any level.
Students receive 10 hours of one-on-one lesson time per semester (for 2 credits only) at Teachers College.
Students and their instructor will decide how to divide the time (i.e., how long each lesson will last) and how often to meet.
To sign up for Applied Music lessons, please fill out a pre-registration online survey (which can be found on this page) during the regular Teachers College registration period for each semester.
Registration for Applied Music Lessons for the Summer A, Summer B and Fall 2020 semester will begin on MONDAY, APRIL 27, 2020. Please visit this page then to complete your survey. Thank you!

Policies for Columbia Schools
Teachers College is delighted to provide lessons to registered students across the University. It is up to the student, though, to determine if these lessons will count towards their degree, what the fee structure is, if loans will cover lessons, and if their particular school will allow for the cross-registration. Proof of successful cross-registration must be supplied by the student to the Music & Music Education program before lessons may begin. The deadline for submission of this proof of cross-registration for the Spring semester is MONDAY, FEB 3.
Generally, students at the following schools ARE PERMITTED by their respective school to cross-register and take Applied Music lessons through Teachers College. Please ascertain with your Dean before requesting lessons:
