Teachers College Institutional Review Board (TC IRB) is looking to recruit three students who will participate in a 10 week, 10 hours per week Research Writing & Ethics Internship for the Fall 2022 semester. Interns who complete the internship will receive a stipend.
The internship currently has three concentrations:
- Research Writing: The emphasis for this concentration will center around the development, writing, and editing of the IRB application, consent forms, and other required documentation for research compliance. This concentration will engage closely with the Graduate Writing Center to support students in writing for multiple audiences, as well as building up a portfolio of research writing.
- Public Speaking and Networking: This concentration will emphasize teaching and educating student researchers in demystifying the IRB, with support from Graduate Student Life & Development. This concentration will provide peer-to-peer support for student researchers' questions and aid in disseminating information related to research ethics and compliance.
- Outreach and Career Development: This concentration will emphasize career development for students looking to pursue a career in research. This concentration will engage closely with TC NEXT to advise students on how to turn their research into a product, whether in a conference presentation or publication.
Student interns who participate in this program will:
- Accomplish challenging, but realistic tasks.
- Develop professional competencies for career success.
- Use the knowledge gained for specific research, writing, and ethics skills.
- Collaborate in a team environment and learn about campus research structures.
- Gain an opportunity to develop specific and measurable goals.
- Network with departments and colleagues including the Graduate Student Life & Development, TC Next, and the Graduate Writing Center.
