Flu Vaccine Availability

Flu Vaccine Availability

Dear Colleagues,

Flu season is upon us.  As in previous years, Columbia Health is providing flu shots to faculty and staff at no cost.  However, the process of obtaining your flu shot is different from previous years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

How to Obtain Your Flu Shots

1. Flu shots will only be administered, with a scheduled appointment, at Lerner Hall, Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.  Walk-ins are NOT allowed.

2. Please call Columbia Health at 212-854-7426 to schedule an appointment.

3. Appointments are generally available within 10 to 14 days.

4. Additional information can be found at https://health.columbia.edu/flu

5. If you have any questions, please contact Columbia Health at 212-854-2284 or email health@columbia.edu.

The high dose vaccine, for individuals aged 65 or over, is NOT available at Columbia Health Services.

Following COVID-19 guidelines for campus entry, Columbia requires that on the day of the appointment you:

1. complete the TC Daily Health Screen

2. wear a face covering,

3. bring you University ID card, and

4  follow signs and staff instructions

The flu vaccine clinic area is accessible only via the campus entrance of Lerner all and a one directional flow is required.

Other Options to Consider

If you are unable to visit Columbia Health, you may obtain your flu shot at:

1. Your primary care provider's office

2. Urgent Care Facility (i.e. CityMD)

3. Local Pharmacy (i.e. Walgreens, CVS, Duane Reade)

Your local Urgent Care Center or Local Pharmacy may provide flu shots on a walk-in basis.  It is recommended you contact the location to confirm if walk-in visits are available.  Regardless of where you choose to obtain your flu shot, please be sure to bring your Medical ID card with you.  Your medical plan will provide coverage for the Flu Shot.  Please note, that your primary care provider may charge a copay if your visit includes additional services.

Regards

-Harry
