Be on the Lookout! 2024 Open Enrollment Starts October 17

Dear Colleagues,

As we gear up for Teachers College’s Annual Benefits Open Enrollment from October 17 to November 6, it's crucial to mark these dates in your calendars. This window allows you to change your benefit elections, update dependents and contribute to a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA). Remember, your ability to enroll or modify benefits after this period will be restricted unless you experience a qualifying life event.

Key Dates:

Important Reminders:

    • FSA Participation
      • Your FSA participation does not carry over from year to year. Make sure to elect it during the upcoming open enrollment period for 2024
    • Unused FSA Balance
      • If you have an unused FSA balance as of December 31, 2023, you can roll over up to $600 into 2024, but in order to make new contributions, you must still elect to participate in an FSA. Balances over $600 will be forfeited.
    • HSA Participation
      • Contributions can be modified throughout the year based on expenses but you must re-elect HSA participation.

For Recently Hired Employees:
If you recently joined TC and have outstanding tasks (e.g., dependent status verification), please complete these tasks on the TC Benefits Enrollment portal. Open Enrollment transactions will not be allowed until the task is cleared. Please contact the Benefits team for assistance if necessary at benetifs@tc.columbia.edu

BenefitPlace App:
This app offers the same functionality as the TC Benefits Center in the myTC Portal, allowing you to take control of your benefits from the palm of your hand.

BenefitPlace App Highlights:
  • Enroll in benefits as a New Hire
  • Submit Annual Open Enrollment elections
  • Report and submit Life Events
  • Review elections at any time
  • Explore cost, plan design, and coverage
  • Upload images of ID cards for easy access

Make your benefit elections seamless, whether you're in the office or on the go, by downloading the BenefitPlace app from Google Play or the Apple App Store. Enter “TC” in the Company ID and log in using Single Sign-On (SSO) on initial setup.

Be on the lookout for an email announcement when Open Enrollment officially begins, providing additional details, including plan rates.
