View Your Benefits and Enroll
Begin the Open Enrollment period by reviewing your personal information, the benefits offered and your current selections. You have two options to do this:
  1. myTC Portal
Visit myTC > Employee Resources > TC Benefits, and on the upper right of the screen, select “Click Here to View Your Benefits.”
  2. BenefitFocus App.
You can download this app from Google Play or the Apple App Store. Enter "TC" as the Company ID and log in using your UNI and password.

Your current benefits will remain in effect through December 31, 2023, and any selections you make during the Open Enrollment period will take effect on January 1, 2024.

Important Considerations

TC will continue to offer the same comprehensive benefits programs for 2024. Employee contribution rates remain unchanged for the vision plan, but there is an increase in the medical and dental plans outlined in the attached document.

Columbia Dental Plan Update
Effective January 1, 2024, TC employees will no longer be offered this plan.

Teachers College, Columbia University maintains a dental plan option through a national carrier, MetLife. Enrolled participants have the flexibility of using in-network as well as out-of-network benefits.

With the MetLife out-of-network benefit, former Columbia Dental members may continue visiting their current dental provider(s)  while participating in that plan. Participants will also have the added flexibility of visiting other dental providers, whether they participate in the MetLife network or are considered out-of-network.

To assist you with this transition, employees will have the option to actively:
  1. Enroll in the MetLife Dental Plan, or
  2. Waive participation in the MetLife Dental Plan (resulting in no Dental coverage)

We recommend employees take action by either electing or waiving coverage with MetLife. If employees do not take any action during the Open Enrollment period, they will be automatically enrolled in the MetLife Dental Plan option at the same coverage level that they were enrolled in 2023 (e.g. employees enrolled in the Columbia Dental Plan with “Employee + 1” coverage will be enrolled with MetLife at the “Employee + 1” coverage level). They will be subject to the corresponding employee cost share.

Employees can review the MetLife plan, located on the Benefits website.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)

  • If you enrolled in a Healthcare and/or Dependent Care FSA in 2023, you must re-enroll, or you will no longer have coverage for these benefits for the calendar year beginning January 1, 2024.
  • Please ensure that you use your 2023 FSA balances by December 31, 2023. If you have a remaining balance, note that the FSA allows plan participants a grace period of up to 2.5 months to spend the remainder of the previous year's FSA funds before March 15, 2024.
  • Prior year funds (not in excess of $600) not used during the grace period will be transferred into your 2024 FSA beginning April 1, 2024. Unused amounts in excess of $600 will be forfeited.
  • This applies to the Healthcare FSA, not the Dependent Care FSA. The Dependent Care FSA is subject to the “use-it-or-lose-it” provisions.
  • Once the plan year begins, you may change the amount of your FSA only if there is a change in your family status–marriage, death, divorce, birth or adoption of a child–or a change in a spouse’s employment status. This change must occur within 31 days of the qualifying event. Otherwise, your election cannot be changed during the year.
Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)
  • If you enrolled in an HSA in 2023, you must re-enroll in order to continue making contributions in 2024. Contributions will stop on December 31, 2023, if you do not re-enroll.
  • Unused HSA balances can roll over year after year with no risk of forfeiture. HSA contribution changes are allowed at any time during the year.
