Open Enrollment Starts October 17! Save the Date to Elect Your 2024 Benefits!

Dear Colleagues,

Mark your calendars: Teachers College’s annual Benefits Open Enrollment period is from October 17 to November 6. After the conclusion of Open Enrollment, your ability to enroll or modify benefits will be restricted, unless you experience a qualifying life event, so completing your enrollment in the benefits plan within this specified timeframe is of utmost importance.

Annual Benefits Open Enrollment | October 17 to November 6
You will receive an email announcement when Open Enrollment officially begins. During this period, participants may change their benefit elections, update dependents or contribute to a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA). Additional details, including plan rates, will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

Important Reminders

    • FSA participation does not carry over year to year. If you want to participate in an FSA in 2024, you are required to elect it during the upcoming open enrollment period. If no election is made, your FSA participation will end on December 31, 2023.
    • If you have an unused FSA balance as of December 31, 2023, you may roll over up to $600 into 2024, but you must still elect to participate in an FSA if you want to make new contributions. Any remaining balances over $600 will be forfeited.
    • HSA participation requires re-election. Contributions can be modified throughout the year should a change be necessary based on expenses.

Benefits Fair
We will host an in-person Benefits Fair on Tuesday, October 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in 150 Horace Mann. We encourage you to attend if you have any questions about benefit elections. Please save the date using this link

We will also host virtual benefits walk-in sessions, where you can ask specific benefits questions.

Note for recently hired employees
Employees who recently joined TC, enrolled in the benefits plans and have any outstanding tasks (such as dependent status verification) cannot start open enrollment until these tasks are finalized. Please contact your HR generalist for further assistance.
